Class Offerings List

This list is subject to change based on enrolment numbers, and class interest. We can add classes is different days/times are requested. Start dates may be changed to accommodate cancellations ​ due to weather, holidays, or emergencies. 

Tracking and Tracking Memberships

Hey tracking enthusiasts! We have 45 acres of mixed hay fields to track on for the 2026 season. Buy a membership, and track as much as you want.

Where: Eden Dog Academy and Stables 7084 6th Line, Belwood

When: May 1st to Oct 31st – April will be included as a bonus if the weather cooperates.

Cost: $225 plus HST for the season, unlimited tracking for 1 or 2 dogs from the same household. $25 to add an extra dog for the season. Max 20 memberships to be sold. You must book your times to avoid conflicts with other users, and tracking areas will be designated so we don’t overuse the same space.

Bonus: Minimum 2 group tracking days will be posted each month, some on weekends, and some on weekdays. Group tracking days will allow members to set tracks for each other, and give each other feedback. EDA instructors will be present for those days.

We will also be running seminars throughout the summer to help people get started, or teach the next step. Seminars are $49 plus HST for the first dog, $25 plus HST for additional dogs.

Intro to Tracking May 23rd 7:30am to 11:30am – Teaches tracking theory, and introduces scent pads, and footstep to footstep tracking in a straight line. Tracking articles are taught off the track.

Intermediate Tracking May 24th 7:30am to 11:30am – Teaches corners, longer tracks, and article indication. Into seminar or previous experience required.

 

Levels Obedience Group Classes – 6 weeks, $282 plus HST

Level 1: A good first course for basic obedience for dogs over 6 months of age. Sit, Down, Stay, Come, Loose Leash Walking, Targeting, Go To Place, and Leave It.

Level 2: For graduates of Level 1, or Puppy Kindergarten. Progresses the understanding of cues taught in Level 1 by adding distance, duration, and distraction. Learn how to get your dog to work for toys instead of food. Intro to formal heeling, and off leash cues.

Level 3: For graduates of Level 2. Progresses the understanding of cues taught in Level 1, and 2 by adding distance, duration, and distraction. Off leash stays, heeling, and recalls. Introduction to rally obedience and agility concepts. Introduction to formal retrieve for service dog work, or competitive obedience.

Scent Detection Group Classes– 4 Weeks $195 plus HST

*We use CKC trial odours in the form of essential oils.

Intro to Scent Detection: No experience required, dogs of all ages and abilities welcome. We introduce the dogs to the target odour wintergreen, and teach them to search containers, and alert to the scent. Bonus: We also teach them to find your lost keys or cellphone.

Advanced Scent Detection: Dogs should already know how to search containers, and alert to wintergreen. We introduce them to the second target odour, pine, and start interior searches. Bonus: We begin to teach them to identify your scent on an object among identical objects in preparation for scent discrimination activities.

Expert Scent Detection: Dogs should already know how to alert to wintergreen, and pine. We introduce the target odours, clove, and anise. We begin exterior searches to challenge their skills in a less predicable environment.

Expert Challenge Scent Detection: Available after completing all 3 scent detection courses. This class is designed to test you and your dog in trial like situations. The distractions get harder, the hides get more difficult and you and your dog are challenged to work as a team.

Rally Obedience: 6 weeks $282 plus HST
Rally is a fun, fast paced obedience sport that promotes teamwork over perfection. It teaches heeling skills useful in the real world for pet dogs, and service dogs, so it isn’t just for people wanting to enter competitions.

Intro to Rally O: Prerequisites of sit, down, stay, come, basic heeling skills, and the ability to work in a group setting. Teaches the heeling and obedience skills required for the novice level of CARO or CKC rally. By the end of the class, you should be able to read the novice signs, and navigate small courses.

Novice Rally O: Prerequisites of sit, down, stand, stay, come, front, left finish, and right finish. This course is for perfecting your novice rally skills, and course navigation in preparation of trialing at the novice level, or just for a fun challenge.

Agility Classes: 6 weeks $282 plus HST

Intro to Agility 1: A first course in agility, learning the basic obedience skills, and obstacle navigation skills needed. Jumping, small contact obstacles, beginning weave poles.

Wednesday March 18th 4:30pm

Intro to Agility 2: For dogs who already have the basic skills mastered and are ready to start increasing the difficulty of the obstacles until they reach full size, and progressing weave pole performance. We put small sequences of small obstacles together, and teach basic handing.

Wednesday March 18th 7:30 pm

Courses and Handling 1: For dogs that still need some modification of equipment, and aren’t ready for full sized courses yet. We do small courses, and practice handling, and obstacle performance skills.

Courses and Handling 2: For dogs who can safely and consistently navigate full sized equipment, and complete a full course.
